ĮAH is commonly an incidental finding in asymptomatic athletes. Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug use may exacerbate or propagate EAH by potentiating the water retention effects of ADH by the kidney. Low oral intake, specifically of high sodium foods, may also contribute. Men and women are at equal risk for EAH when adjusted for body mass index and exercise duration. The greatest risk factors for EAH are excessive hypotonic fluid consumption beyond the capacity for normal renal free water excretion, high ambient temperature, and longer exercise time, usually exceeding 2 hours. Several studies demonstrate a linear relationship between temperature and incidence of EAH. We would stay here again.EAH occurs in a wide variety of athletes in activities of various intensities, including ultramarathon and marathon running, triathlon, shorter distance running, military training operations, team ball sports, recreational hiking, and yoga. There are lots of no see-ums expecially at night. The showers worked but not all the toilets. It was fun to watch all the boats passing by. The park itself is full of beautiful trees and it is right on the intracoastal. The sites are paved and some have trees but they offer little shade. They are all back-in and some would be tricky to get a big rig into. This is an older park so the sites are narrow but plenty long enough for any size rig. There are some overhanging trees but fairly easy to dodge. The $20 includes a $10 senior discount plus a $10 reservation fee! The reservation fee seems awfully high but I assume it is the same whether you reserve one night or several nights. With that significant aside, a great place, highly recommended.īuck Hall Recreation Area is conveniently located right off route 17. If you have a self-contained camper, plan on using your bath. As a minor point, the pneumatic closers that would, were they working, cushion the closing of the restroom doors were completely inoperable, so there was a loud slamming anytime anyone came or went. ![]() Some conscientious cleaning, a coat of paint, and a little maintenance would do wonders. Aside from mold, my wife told me the drain on the women's side was so covered in hair that she wondered how the water drained. Probably the worst I have ever seen, moldy, one of the two johns in the mens was inoperable and, as i was given to understand, had been for a long time and was likely to be for some undetermined duration into the future. Since my wife and I like to hike and enjoy nature, this proved a great location. Sand gnats could be a pain but, hey, that's part of the coastal environment. Campground is largely open and grassy, though there are a number of trees that provide shade on some sites. Wildlife Refuge (via Coastal Expeditions). Also would recommend the Center for Birds of Prey and a day-trip over to Bulls Island on Cape Romaine Natl. ![]() Center, roughly five miles south is very nice (check for hours of operation on-line). Plenty of hiking in the national forest, also Sewee Environmental and Edu. Not sure the mud, current and oyster bars would make for good swimming. Water was pretty turbid with the fast-flowing tide. Didn't take our fishing gear but there is a short pier on-site (free). My wife and I stayed 7 nights over spring break ($20/night, $10 with Senior Pass, plus reservation fee of $9). area features a boat ramp and small 15-site campground.
